I just typed in his name and there is the following info - I copied the first para which is from a well
known info site - note sure if I can post the name! Lots more info on the site. It refers to the family returning from India so perhaps there's a Passenger list. Hope this helps. Jill

"Thomson was born in Bangalore in India where his father George was a British civil servant who had married an Irish girl, Florence Green.[1][2] Thomson was deaf from birth and when the family returned to Britain from India he attended the Royal School for Deaf Children at Margate.[3] While at the school, he learnt sign language.[4] By the time he was 13, he was already 6 feet tall.[5] His father was unhappy that he had not learnt to speak terribly well, and transferred him to a small private oral school run by a Mr Barber at Brondesbury.[6] Later in life he was known, in the press, as the "deaf and dumb" artist.[7]

Fantastic, thank you very much, had obviously not come across - amazing what different people find, different research techniques.

So he was their first and possibly only child, would they have been advised to have no more children in those days?

    Hi Jill
yes you can tell us on which sites you find information. We are just not allowed to give direct links to the sites which have advertising or charge a subscription.

The marriage cert states "Married in the Bobbili Mission House".

    Bobbili, Andhra Pradesh, India

Trying to interpret entries under column headed "Residence at time of Marriage"
"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

The couple were married by the "Rev. G Churchill, Licensed Minister".

    Note -
Re. "Residence", the cert gives the "District" - still trying to interpret.

One of the witnesses signature's is unintelligible but an interpretation is included on the cert

ie. "R/K (?) Ranga Row * Rajah of Bobbili"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venkata_Ranga_Rao
"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"
