Good idea, but still no mention of parents.
Must have remarried, painting of his daughter Mary

Why no paintings of his father and mother and any siblings
Why no reports of his proud British civil servant parents supporting him in his artistic work, painting the cocktail bar of the Queen Mary ship

In the 1948 Olympic Games in London, Thomson became the last person to win a Gold Medal for painting as medals for art were abandoned in subsequent Olympic games.

Thanks for your help, what a fascinating person

His parents may have died etc. Until their names are found its anyones guess what happened.
I posted this earlier and wonder if he would have had to name his parents on the record.

Hope the link works.

In 1927, he married, but this marriage proved unsuccessful. His second marriage to Gertrude Parker in 1940 was a happy one, and they ultimately raised two children.
Im not sure how reliable the info is on the link but may give some clues to trace him with.

A maybe for daughter Mary ??, born before the 1940 marriage.

Obviously she was known by both surnames, hers and his before the marriage.

Im not finding anything else on him.
The marriage certificate to his first marriage as suggested earlier might be the only chance of getting a name for his father, if he knew it.
