Default Isaiah CHADWICK or MARLAND b c1870 Oldham

This man was possibly born and definitely married as Isaiah CHAPMAN, yet his children and his WW1 service were as Isaiah MARLAND. From the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

Isaiah MARLAND enlisted in January 1915, declaring age 38y 240d, born Oldham. (2 possible births, MARLAND 1864 & CHADWICK 1870). He must have been in his 40's because he ...
Married (as CHADWICK) 12 Oct 1887, Oldham Register Office - Mary Ann ATHERTON.
4 Children, ALL surnamed MARLAND: Hilda 1901, Eva 1907, Isaiah 1910 & Wilfred 1914 (died January 1916 - Death Certificate shown).

    Military: 13717 Lanc Fusiliers, 29321 Leicesters; 42745 York & Lancs. Disembodied 1919.
(On enlistment he declared former service with the Liverpools - the Army traced this as Pte 1391 KLR, Nov 1885 - desertion Dec 1886.)

Or perhaps GRO made an error? If Chadwick was Marland, everything would fit into place!

He's in the 1911 as Isaiah Markland b. abt 1865, Oldham, gas stoker. Wife: Mary Ann, abt 1870, b. Watford.
7 kids: Robert 18, cotton spinner; Eliza 16, cotton spinner; George 14, cotton spinner; Mabel 11; Hilda 9; Eva 7; Isiah 11 mths
Visitor Mary Ann Atherton 66 Lincolnshire - she died in 1912..
With the same name, he's in the 1891 and 1881. In the 1881 he's with his mother Hannah Chadwick (38), widow, and sisters Eliza (14) and Mary (11) Chadwick. Hannah & Mary are cotton weavers, Isaiah is a cotton piecer.

This is where things start going wrong.

In the 1871, Hannah Chadwick, widow (28), is living with daughter Eliza Ann, 4 (1867), and son Samuel Alex, 1 month. No sign of Isaiah or Mary. I can't find any Isaiah Markhams in 1871 or Samuel Alex Chadwick in 1881.

Anc links her to the Hannah Marland, dau of John Marland, who married Joseph Chadwick in Chadderton in 1861. There IS a death of a Joseph Chadwick in Oldham in 1862 (and a lot more in other places). If it's him, he can't have fathered the children.

The 1864 Isaiah Markham birth is to mother Hannah Markham, spinster.

In the 1871 census ancestry is linking Isiah to John and Jane Bradley as their son age 6 born Oldham but there is a birth reg on GRO March 1/4 1863 Oldham with the mmn as Naylor.
I can't see a marriage for a John Bradley and Jane Naylor but there is a marriage of a John Bradley and on the same page a Jane Wild June 1/4 1857 Manchester. They have a son John Henry Bradley Sept 1/4 1864.
This is taking me on lots of twists and turns which don't appear to be related to the original post.
