Yes, that's him. Do you think there isn't a connection?

At a guess I'd say he is the son of John and Catherine as her maiden name is unusual. Getting his birth Cert would sort it one way or the other.

I looked for baptisms on the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks site (Lancs OPC) but there are only two
Baptism: 18 Nov 1906 St Mary, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire, England
Hector Walls - filius Joannis Walls & Catharinae (formerly McIntasny)
Born: 22 Oct 1906
Abode: 59 L. King St., Hurst
Godparents: Dominicus Egan; Elizabetha Egan
Baptised by: Alexandro Smith
Register: Baptisms 1903 - 1922, Page 433, Entry 352
Source: Original Register at LRO
Baptism: 14 Mar 1909 St Mary, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire, England
Nora Walls - filia Joannes Walls & Catharinae (formerly McIntasiney)
Born: 25 Jan 1909
Abode: 57 King St., Hurst
Godparents: Maria Ferguson
Notes: Ipsa matrimonium contraxit cum Jacobo Ever? [page torn] die 3 Augusti 1930 in
Ecc. St. Josephi apud ? P.T. Joanne Hall et Joanna Su?
Baptised by: Ricardo Mortimer
Register: Baptisms 1903 - 1922, Page 479, Entry 586
Source: Original Register at LRO
I used a translator to try and get an idea of what the Note means in Norah's baptism record and this is what it gave me
"She had contracted with James Ever? [Page torn] on August 3, 1930, in Ec. St. Joseph in? P.T. Joanne Hall and Joanna Su?"
There is no marriage for a Nora(h) Walls to anyone in 1930 but there is a marriage of a Nora Walls to a James Everett in Sept 1/4 1929 registration district Oldham which fits the details in the note. I wonder why someone went back to the baptism to record this information from 1929/30.

Thanks so much for all your hard work Christina. I had seen Nora's marriage to Everett but wasn't sure but I have now found confirmation. I have also found the birth of Francis G Walls b.1915 with mother McIntasney on FS so getting there slowly.

This was common for RC marriages at the time. The parties intending to get married had to show an RC baptismal certificate to the church where the marriage was to take place. So they visited or wrote to their parish of baptism, saying they were intending to marry so-and-so, and where, on the date planned. The priests noted the intended marriage in the margin of the baptismal register. It was a system to prevent bigamy.
My grandfather married twice, and both his marriages are squeezed into his baptism entry.

Hi Barbara
Thanks for taking the time to explain this for me. As is evident i didn't know this so yes we learn something everyday. Now I just have to remember it.
Thanks again.
