    Default Morris MARKYER b 1879 Russia - WW1

From the WW1 Service Records (WO 363) - a man born in Russia whose Leeds marriage does not appear in the GRO records, did not write English and did not speak the language well.
My "best guess" (assuming that the date of marriage - 14 August 1904 - is correct) is that he was married as Morris MARKYER to a Rachel LOSDEN (Q3 1904 Leeds).

Enlisted as HARRIS MARKS on 11 July 1918, declaring born Russia, August 1879.
    Parents: Russian Jews.
Married Rachel LODGEN? HODGEN?, Leeds, 1904.
Home address: 43 Concord Street, Leeds.
    Occupation: Tailor Presser.
Served with the 9th (Russian) Labour Bn, Regt No. 556896 until discharge in 1919.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. He could perhaps be Harris BLEMAN? Or Harris ISCHCOVITZ?
MARKYER's is the only marriage that appears with a Rachel whose surname resembles LODGEN ...

    Perhaps the sleuths can confirm/disprove?

The only one who comes close in the 1911 (just searched on forename Morris, no surname, b1879 +/-2y Russia, wife Rachel) is Morris Markovitch, b. abt 1881 Russia, Res Whitechapel, London. He's a tailor, 3 kids, all with biblical names so possibly Jewish origins. Rachel & oldest child both also born Russia, younger two born London. Married 10 years, another child died.

I can't see a Leeds marriage for anyone called Morris & Rachel in Leeds 1899-1904 with a reasonable approximation of his name.
and his enlistment doesn't mention any kids.

The 1911 has one hit for Harris (b abt 1881, Russia) & Rachel ( abt 1884, Russia) resident 4 Grimsby St, Leeds. Both are drapers. Married 7 years, 3 kids all b. England, with bog standard british names. bad news? The surname is Rosenberg. Anc's auto-hints link Rachel to a Russian-born Rachel Gillinson in the 1901, married 1906,

You might want to look at British Jewry Leeds Data base which contains Marks surnames plus and place name (street )searches. See also Jewish Gen UK Data base for cross checking surnames,BMD and other records. On the Leeds Jewish data base there is a Harry Marks with father Lazarus Marks but this Harry was born 1892-1944 and married Goldie Priceman.
