Could it be referring to the combined height of all six sons, each one being around 6 foot something.

At just under 6ft 2in they were giants compared to the average of about 5ft 4in in the early 19th C.

I'm guessing their mother was tall, too... you know, the one that doesn't get a mention, but who actually produced all these sons.
