Smile Royal Munster Fusiliers 1st Batt Anglo Boer W

    Hi,
My great grandfather John Roche from Ireland fought with the 1st Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers in the Anglo Boer War.
He died at Standerton in May 1901, leaving his widow and only child.
I have been trying to find his Army Records to help my daughter with a History Project she is doing on him.
So far I have found him on Record of Deceased Soldiers Effect, namely Monies due to my Great Grandmother and her daughter, I've found the Medal Roll, and details of when and where he died.
Are there any other records that should be available to me , or would they have been destroyed , as I've been led to believe?
Any help that anyone can give me would be very much appreciated.
    Thankyou.

    Welcome to the British-Genealogy forums
If you came to us from Forces War Records reading this will explain the connection

The National Archives has a guide to service records prior to 1913 Here

Others with more knowledge than me of the subject will be along to help I am sure.-

Generally speaking, service records for that period were only retained if the soldier was discharged to pension. Since your man died in service, I'm afraid you've probably got about as much as it's possible to get.

    Hi
There is a book about the Anglo/Boer Wars which does have burial places,
This thread shows how it helped me to find out about a Great Uncle.
