Hi Curtis,
To order any birth, marriage or death certificates go to the GRO's site. (If you go to any others you will get ripped off.)
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/c...es/default.asp
You have to register once; after that you just sign in.
To order Keith's birth certificate you will need to quote the following details.
Name: Keith H Wagstaff
Year 1924
Quarter - September or 3 (can never remember without going through the whole process)
Registration district: Leicester
Volume number : 7a
Page number: 416
By the way, tracing our family history can often throw a lot of things our way that aren't always good/easy to live with. (For example, in my early days with one set of parents I found the births and deaths of four Samuels as babies before one made it to adulthood so don't start looking unless you're prepared to take bad with good.)

In 1934 your mother's birth isn't registered twice, it is one entry indexed twice (under each parent's surname) because her parents weren't married.
Her birth was then re-registered in 1938, presumably after the marriage.
The birth of her twin Miriam isn't registered, so she was sadly probably stillborn ( and they are in a separate register, not available online).

02-02-2019, 1:40 AM #29Alfred got married in 1921 to FLORENCE MIDGAFF , had a son Keith in 1924 ??? divorced FLORENCE in 1932
Florence was actually registered as Florrie on her birth registration, used the name Florence on her marriage to John Alfred. There are two possible remarriages for her.
A Florrie Wagstaff married a John W Moore June 1/4 1933 Leicester reg dist, whilst a Florence Wagstaff married a Paul J Hardwick Leicester reg dist in Dec 1/4 1942. There are other marriages for a Florence Wagstaff but these two are in the Leicester reg dist, the others are in other areas of Leicestershire.

The above baptism for 1822 also brings up a death record in April of the same year
Daniel Wagstaff
Baptised 22 March 1822
Baptism Place: Nuneaton,Warwick,England
Death Date - 14 Apr 1822
Father - Thomas Wagstaff
Mother - Ann
FHL Film Number 548398, 555361, 555362
Then there is a second baptism for a Daniel Wagstaff to parents with the same names in 1824
Daniel Wagstaff
Baptism Date: 22 Aug 1824 at Nuneaton,Warwick,England
Father - Thomas Wagstaff
Mother - Ann
FHL Film Number: 548398, 555361, 555362
It was quite common for the parents to give a child the same name as a sibling who had died.
To verify everything I have found so far it is necessary to purchase the relevant certificates otherwise we could be barking up the wrong tree. Marriage certificates will give you the names and occupations of fathers and the birth certificates will give the father's name and occupation (unless the child is illegitimate) and the mother's maiden name. However civil registration didn't start until Sept 1837 and even then it was a hit and miss affair then in 1874? it became the parent's responsibility to register their child or face a fine so things became more regulated. Prior to 1837 we are reliant on parish records and the information on these can be very sparse.
