Default MAY, WILLIAM: BEJOWANS ITP: CORNWALL

Anyone researching the May family? William May, my Gx3 Grandfather was living in a hamlet known as Bejowans in 1817 with his wife Martha. They had one son, John, my GX2 Grandfather. I have a lot of details going forward from John but would like to know more about William and Martha

The Cornwall OPC site has a marriage between a William May, Yeoman, and a Martha Hockin 5 March 1814 in Newlyn East. Witnesses John Oliver and William May.

    Hello Emeltee,

I've been on the Cornwall OPC for ages today. I remember discounting that entry because (having dropped geography for my O levels) I thought that Newlyn East would have been the wrong area. Of course , having now looked at the map, it is quite close to what was then Bejowans.

I've also emailed the holiday cottage business that rent out a properety called Bejowans Cottage to see if that cottage is the original property dating from c1817.

Thank you again for opening my eyes for me.

    David
