My Father served in R.E.M.E Jan 1940-Dec 1945.# 154772 His service was Tel Mechanic in the REME based in England during duration. Official records have him awarded Defense medal. But I wonder if he also was eligible for The Star medal 1939-45. Looking up description it just says 'Army Operational command',not sure what that actually means.. Also the War Medal 1939-45.,would he have earned these 2 medals.Last posted at Hemel Hempstead Eng.
Thanks

As Peter has said one needed to serve overseas to be eligible for the Star, however I believe he should have had the 1939-45 War Medal which was awarded to all full time personnel wherever they served.
