    Post Treharne family, from Carmarthenshire

I'm looking for information on the Treharne family, from Carmarthenshire. The furtherest I can go back is to Joshua Treharne, born 1806 in Llannon (for some reason, his baptism index says "Traharn" instead". Josh would later move to Breconshire and get married twice. I want to know more about Joshua's family his parents for instance,) as well as info on his first wife, Mary Thomas, whom he married in 1838, I believe.

Hi I have taken this from your post in Surname Interests and given it its own place in the Carmarthenshire forum.
I am sure others will be along to help and will be asking for more information.

Yes, Ann Herbert was his 2nd marriage. I don't think Eliza from Merthyr Tydfil is his child though. I have reason to believe that Elizabeth, his first daughter was born in Crickhowell district in Breconshire, which also covers Llanelly

One or other of Joshua's marriage certificates will give you his father's name and occupation. His marriage certificate to Mary Thomas is online at FMP, their T&C's don't allow us to post details but most public libraries offer members access to FMP's databases. I can tell you the marriage gives the fathers names and occupations. I haven't looked yet for Joshua's second marriage.

That can't be the Eliza from the 1841 census, because the census was taken on the 6 June 1841, which was some time before the December registration quarter began.

Just had a look at that certificate on FMP and I found it very informative. It told me the names of Josh and Mary's fathers and occupations. Disappointingly though, it didn't say thier ages; instead saying "of full age."

Free Reg has the marriage of Joshua Treharn and Margaret Bowen in Llanon on 30 November 1804. Looks interesting.
    Groom from Llangendeirne.
