I want to look into the Bracken family, from Bristol. I'm looking into Eliza Bracken, who was born in 1849 and apparently married one Clement Shattock (a sailor) who died before 1891. Unfortunately I can't find any information on that marriage; not even marriages abroad. Also, I'm yearning to look into Eliza's parents families; Henry Bracken and Eliza Lee.

Hi
Here is your request for help with this family, now in the Gloucestershire forum. I have, again, separated it from the original post in the Surnames Interest forum which is just for posting a list of names you are researching so others can find like minded researchers.
Hopefully it won't be too long before someone comes along to help.

To start this search off here is Eliza with her family in 1861. The name has been mistranscribed as Brucken. I have submitted an alternative to ancestry.

Whoever the father is of Eliza's daughter Kate I would say they aren't married as the birth registration is in the surname of Bracken with the middle name Sharrick
Kate Sharrick Bracken June 1/4 1875 Bristol 6a/56.
Also her son Albert age 11 in the 1881 census (where they are living with Eliza's sister and husband) is also down as being born Bristol but the only possible birth reg for him with the surname Bracken, in Bristol is this one
Alfred Podbury Bracken March 1/4 1872 Bristol vol 6a page 37
Looks like Eliza had 2 illegitimate children with different fathers.

Just found this record which is a very sparse transcription from the Bristol England Select Church of England parish Registers 1720-1933 but it doesn't say whether it is a baptism or a marriage.
.
Clement Shattock child Kate Shattock
Also note the spelling on Kate's birth reg - it is Sharrick

This thread refers to Eliza's husband, Clement Sharrock (or the little that can be found about him).

Reference is also made to Eliza, so if wishing to help do read both threads.

And this
marriage Kate Shattock to Edward Dymond 25 Dec 1899 Easton, St Gabriel, Gloucestershire. Father Clment Shattock.
Also a record of an Albert henry Shattock father Clement Transcription says nothing more. However I can't see a birth reg for a Albert Henry bracken or Shattock so he/his mother may have dropped the middle name Podbury and replaced it with Henry. In which case his ancestry is debatable.
Eliza was never very far from home and her children, according to the censuses are born Bristol so an overseas marriage is very unlikely.Sometimes paranoia is just having all the facts.
