    Default Cyprus

A friend born in England in 1942 has all her ancestors from Northern Cyprus and wants to start researching her family history there.

The friend has some family names, dates etc. but no idea where to start.

Are there any good sites? Any advice etc. to get her started?

    Thank you in advance

Just type 'Cyprus genealogy' into a search engine, and read the links.

You might find that there's two sets of databases since "Cyprus"and "Northern Cyprus" are run as separate countries, so search on both.
Cyndi's List may also have something.

Yes, I did use a search engine but was also looking for anyone with some personal experience. I didn't realise Cyprus and Northern Cyprus would be dealt with as separate countries so I'll pass that on too.

    Thanks.

    "Might be", I haven't checked.
In 1942, the British were running the place.

It seems that we had (might still have, though they're not what I would call 'active members') some nembers who live(d) in Cyprus. But they seem to be expats, researching their UK ancestors.
