    Default Waltham Silver pocket watch

A friend of mine has recently came into a silver Waltham Pocket watch, inside there is the following: 30/10/1933, 17 Jewels, P J Bartlett which we think is the makers name, Numbers, 18124015, 367687 and AJD 67249.

would any body know why this would have been presented to someone in 1933 or any organisation that would have used these as a reward or acknowledgment of some sort of service.

Apart from the obvious Christmas, anniversary, birthday, etc, clocks and watches have been popular as retirement presents.

Are you sure it is P J and not P S Bartlett?
