My 3xGGfather joined the first coastguards in 1822 at Tenby and was at Freagh in Ireland then a chief boatman in Cork, Cove(Cobh), spending about 10 years in Ireland; he also worked in Milford Haven, Sandown in the Isle fo Wight (No1 Battery) about 1831, Rochester (Cockle Shell Hard) and Isle of Grain, finishing up in Sheerness at Garrison in 1860. I would like to know whether there are detailed records of activities for each station and what sort of work he would have been doing, also whether there are old photos of these stations at these times. If anyone has any knowledge would appreciate help.
