    Default CLAYTON-HINCHLIFFE Marriage 1910?

    One for the sleuths!

James William CLAYTON's WW1 Service Record states that he was married when he joined up on 2 September 1914. He was 33y 6m (born CLECKHEATON) and lived at 28 Valley Road, CLECKHEATON.

The last 2 pages of his records (which are often mis-files, but the other info on the pages correspond with the man's service) state that he married:
    Anne Elizabeth HINCHLIFFE
    on 27 December 1910
at St Johns Church it doesn't specify place

On these pages the surname looks like CLAYSON - as do the names of the 2 witnesses.

    I cannot find this marriage.
It is possible that they were co-habiting (there is no "verification of certificates" signature).

I'd be very grateful if someone could check the address in 1911 and/or find what I'm missing!

I knew someone would be a faster typist than me but I had got as far as finding married James in 1911, as well as in 1891 and 1901, where he's living in St John's parish, Cleckheaton.

FreeBMD show an Annie Eliza Hinchliffe marrying December quarter 1909, North Bierley registration district (the one for Cleckheaton). No Clayton groom on the page. Off to hunt for him. Unless Sandy beats me again.

For info, FMP currently indexing James in 1911 as Claydon, but I do think it says Clayton so will send off error report.

ADDED: Soon found him. Registration distict has wrong number (2b instead of 9b). Correction sent to FreeBMD.

    For reference, 1891 census - RG12/3610 folio 83 page 8
    1901 census - RG13/4172 folio 136 page 20

    THANK YOU BOTH!
You are Stars (I thought I was going bonkers when I couldn't find it ... and I only searched from 1910-1914 because of his age).

    G'Day Sandyhall,
You are way better at this than me, my Grandfather William Bennett married on 1 June 1903 at St Helen’s Parish Church, Hemsworth, Elizabeth Frances Hinchliffe. Is there a connection you can find between Annie Eliza Hinchliffe who married William Clayton and my Grandmother Elizabeth Frances Hinchliffe. If yes that could perhaps also be of interest to original poster "fullscott",
    Cheers, John in Western Australia.

As you know she was married on 1 June 1903 do you have her marriage certificate as that will give you Father's name for a start. I will have a look though
