Thread: MIller/Huntley

    Default MIller/Huntley

I am struggling to find birth evidence of my Great grand mother. Her name was Adelaide Miller. Verbal history has it that she was born in Sunderland 1891.She married Charles Thomas Huntley in 1914 in South Africa and had my Grand mother (Dorothy Adelaide) in 1913. I would be most grateful for any advise.

According to Charles''s military records he arrived in SA in 1911 but I cannot find an entry point for the elusive Adel aide.

This Adelaide died in Sunderland in the April-June quarter 1888. The family then had a daughter named Margaret Ann, followed by another Adelaide born/died in Sunderland in 1894.

Did Adelaide & Charles have any other children? Perhaps there may be some clues in their names. Verbal history is often helpful but can also be inaccurate so I would certainly consider widening the search beyond the Sunderland area.

Hi,thanks for the info. Adelaide also had 2 sons.John Charles Huntley born 1914 and Charles Henry Huntley born 1916. On her daughter, Dorothy's Baptism register she calls herself Ada Esther Huntley.

Hi there.Thank you for the research. The Ada Esther would be Adelaide Huntley (nee Miller)Charles's first wife divorced in 1929.The 3 children mentioned are from his first marriage to Adelaide.I am trying to establish where she was born, point of entry and date to SA.

I have come across an Adelaide Ellen Miller born Camberwell 1d 805 Surrey on FreeBMD. Perhaps there is a spelling error. Also wondered if looking for Esther Adelaide Miller would be advisable.Thank you everyone for your interest.
