OK, Victoria, go here https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
Click 'order certificates online'
REGISTER on the site, registration is free. Register/log in is top right. Once you've registered and logged in go to 'Order a Certificate/PDF' click and it will take you to a page headed "Start Application" then For events registered in England and Wales: tick BIRTHS, scroll down to 'Is the GRO Index Reference Number known?' and check YES. Fill in the year of registration box (1891) next click 'SUBMIT' which will take you to the next page, fill in the boxes as: Surname - SCOTT; Forename - ERNEST, Quarter - Jul Aug Sept; District Name - MORPETH; Volume Number - 10b, Page Number - 403.
Then scroll down to 'choose the service you require' decide whether you want a pdf or a copy certificate and check the appropriate one. Choose a personal reference and fill out the box then click submit, you'll be taken to a page where you fill out your personal details (self explanatory) hope that's explained OK, good luck.Alma

Just to clarify the Bella/Isabella situation. The most recent census that we have access to is 1911 and here you can see James and Isabella (Annie's parents) with Ernest and their granddaughter Isabella in the same house on census night.

Ernest and young Isabella were about the same age so I think that perhaps she would be the one you talk about as being your grandad's aunt who had the letters. The older Isabella, Annie's mother, is the one who adopted Ernest. Young Isabella was actually Annie's niece and your grandad's second cousin. Her father was Annie's brother, John SCOTT who married Wilhelmina LEATHAM in 1892. John may have died in 1899 as there is a death that matches his age, and then in the 1901 census Wilhelmina was a widow with her two children.

Wilhelmina remarried to John HUNT and you can see her new family here in 1911.

It appears that Annie was James and Isabella's only daughter and I wouldn't be surprised if she was Ernest's mother. Hopefully the birth cert will have enough information to establish his parentage.
