    Default Martha Louisa Price

Was it unusual for a family to name 2 of their children the same name if both are alive?

Bartholomew Price born 1807 Ludlow, wife Charlotte Charman

    Children

    Bartholomew b 1831
    Emma b 1835
    Martha Louisa b 1837
    Elizabeth b 1841
    Ann b 1842
    Richard Bartholomew b 1844
    Martha b 1848

Martha Louisa married William Antil Blore in 1861 Birmingham, I have the marriage certificate,
    They were my great grandparents.

The sites I have been looking at are ancestry, gro bmd records and familysearch

    Any help would be appreciated

I can see a Martha bap 1839 and another Martha bap 1846 (abode Dinham), Can't see a Martha Louisa.

Martha (abode Dinham) buried 1845 aged 6.

Looks like Martha bap 1846 is your ancestor. That's presuming it's the right family. What was Martha's father's name on the 1861 marriage certificate?

Bartholomew is shown as a publican on some records. You really need to be looking at the parish registers. See Findmypast - available free through many library services - including Gloucestershire Libraries.

Thanks for replying. You mentioned you thought Martha was born in 1846. according to the marriage certificate Martha was 24 years old which means she was born in 1837.

If she had been born in 1846, she would have been a minor in 1861 which she might not have wanted to admit to.

But I thought I had better look at the marriage register (via Ancestry) and her name was shown as Maria Louisa .

    Something funny going on!

Is there any way I could send a copy of the marriage certificate?

Just gone to my file of certificates to double check and yes Martha is Maria Louisa. That will make a different. Thanks for checking ancestry.
