Hi sugar,

up until four years ago there was a wikipedia page with a very detailed account of the Trevelyan St George family going back to the there origins when they played an importantb part in William the Conqueror's invasion and were awarded huge amounts of land in britain in Yorkshire and somerset, cornwall and Wales.

The Trevelyans - as the 'St George' addition came much, much later... decided to make the Trevellyn estate in somerset their country seat. They changed their Huguenot 'de Feu' surname to Trevellyn which has over the years been anglasised to Trevelyan

They owned over 90,000 acres by the 12 century and by sheer cold blooded calculation and brutalty, owned 120,000 acres by 14th cemtury

When Elizabeth i raised their standing from viscounts to earls , this came with even more land ireland and additional 90,000 acres at the time, with an additional 45,000 in the ensuing years made by very advantageous arranged marriages.

they literally owned and area the size of a county and were extremely powerful and formidable.

The eighth earl of Kingston George Trevelyan married a St George, the daughter of a family of immeasurable wealth in the 1700s and that is when the family name changed from Trevelyan to Trevelyan-St George
