Thread: Cecil Husk

    Default Cecil Husk

Here's an unusual occupation for you. A somewhat distant member of the family was a medium. Apparently he started out as a vocalist and ended up turning to mediumship when he lost his sight. It appears that he was quite popular at one time. I did search Newspapers.com for a mention, but found almost nothing. His career went from about 1860 to 1920. His actual name was James Charles Husk but his performing name was Cecil Husk.
I wrote a blog post about the family and would LOVE to find playbills, adverts, a photo or anything. Especially about Cecil!

If anyone who collects or knows someone who collects material from this era on mediums could help me out, it would be appreciated.

    Hi
I have closed your other post about the Husk family here - https://www.british-genealogy.com/th...he-Husk-Family as they overlap and could cause confusion.
Anyone wishing to help please post on this thread.

That's interesting that he left his effects to Ray. Ray is the daughter of his brother Percy who I mentioned in the blog post.

EXCEPT that this post is about Cecil and his mediumship and the OTHER post was correctly logged under actors and performers and concerned the OTHER members of the family.

The ladies mentioned applied for Grant of Probate, this enabled them to administer the estate in accordance with any will left by JCH, if no will, then presumably yes they would share the estate.

You can apply for a copy of the Grant of Probate any will, will be attached, from this site

Right. This thread is only about Cecil Husk's occupation as a medium. The other thread is now unlocked and is a research thread on the Husk family.

I find it odd there was any notation about that at all. The account of his last years I read stated that he was destitute and a "Husk fund" had to be established to care for him as he was blind and very helpless. Maybe there was a bit after all. Thanks.
