I have spent a large portion of today gaily adding school records to a number of folk in my tree from the "National School Admission Registers & Log-Books 1870-1914" collection held by Findmypast, and finding it very useful with all sorts of little gems in it, such actual birth dates, the reason that they left school and the date they left school etc.
Just found the snag ...... The last two that I have looked at I have the birth certificates for and the birth dates given in the school just do not match.
For instance: Tom Lew Roberts birth certificate 17 Jul 1888 v school record 16 Oct 1888 and his brother Evan John Roberts birth certificate 20 Jan 1892 v school record 22 Feb 1893.
They are the right individuals because there is other information in the school records to tie them to the family.
So now I just have to remember all those that I have already altered and go back and REALTER!!!
