Any thoughts on my problem will be very welcome.
I had an Aunt, Gertrude Minnie Wiles 1906-1979. She had an illegitimate child
Margaret Agnes Lilian Wiles in 1929.
Gert married Robert Campbell in 1930.
She had children Pauline C ? 1938 and
Frederick C ?1939
Gert then married Frederick C Race in 1941. It states on their marriage certificate that she is the divorced wife of Robert Campbell. All three children died in October 1940 and apart from Margaret, on the grave stone their name is Race. The problem i have is that Pauline and Frederick are on in the Birth records twice once under Campbell and once under Race so not sure who the biological Father is or why they are down twice. My instincts are that Pauline and Frederick are the illegitimate children of Gert with Fred Race. My only reasoning being that i've always thought that in the 1930's it would have taken a few years to get divorced. So therefore Gert isn't going to be having children with Robert when she married Fred so soon after their birth. But perhaps i'm wrong.
I hope this all makes sense The "C" in Pauline and Frederick's names are for middle names.
I'm always grateful for any help recieved.

There is just one birth registration for each child which has been INDEXED twice to reflect information on the certificate. There was no place on a birth certificate for a surname for the child but was usually indexed under the father's surname by default. If the certificate names the father as Frederick RACE and the mother as Gertrude CAMPBELL formerly WILES then the births will be indexed under both RACE and CAMPBELL as they appear to be an unmarried couple (her name would be Gertrude RACE formerly WILES if they were married or presenting as being married).
It is also possible that there is no father named and the mother is named as Gertrude CAMPBELL formerly WILES, also known as RACE, or something similar. You will only know if you purchase the certificates.
