Hi All,
Wondered if you would be able to help or point me in the right direction.
Henry Athawes born 1720 Boxley, Kent, died 1747 at Sea (I'm guessing!) I have his Will and he says he is a Mariner serving on HMS Dreadnought.
Does anyone have any idea where I might find some more information about the HMS Dreadnought for the 1747ish area? Or some records regarding to Henry's service?
What was going on in 1747? Were we at war with France or America?? My history knowledge of that time is lacking!
Thanks in advance

Google "the chronological historian george II 1826". Of hits returned select https://books.google.uk/books?id=12roo.... etc etc
Use search box "Go" to search for Dreadnought - mentioned on page 3."dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

google "the minutes of a court martial held on board his majesty's ship the lenox ...", select the google book version and search inside. I think it refers to an action (or lack of?) in 1744.
