Fanny Louise Crawcour was baptised Sept 12 1869 -parents Samuel Walter Crawcour -clerk and his wife Emily 15 York Street St.Simon Zelotes Bethnal Green.
By 1869 Samuel was a bankrupt- The Edinburgh Gazette 6 August 1869

The 1871 Census was the last official record that Samuel is shown living with his wife and children-

The Surrey Electoral Rolls show that between 1873-1875 Samuel was at 10 St Peters Road Mile End Old Town.
However, by 1876 he is recorded in the Electoral Rolls at 9 Dagmar Road Camberwell.
Importantly, this is also the address of his brother Isaac Henry and the 1881 Electoral Rolls give Samuel the same address but no further data post 1881.
He does not appear with his wife in the 1881 or subsequent census. This may suggest possible situations- he may have separated from his wife and gone to live at his brother Isaac Henry address at 9 Dagmar Road Camberwell and post 1881 or earlier he may have left the UK but there are no records to indicate this at present.

The marriage certificate is the clue to Samuel having gone to America. The family history suggested that he had gone to meet up with his sister Rebecca who had married Frederick Aschenbach in 1860 Pennsylvania. Frederick and Rebecca had come from the USA on a trip and left Liverpool in 1878 for a return to NY. Whether or not Samuel was already in the USA is not known and there is no record to indicate that Emily knew where he was or if Rebecca told her if she actually knew herself. Similarly, Isaac Henry Crawcour was at the wedding of Elizabeth Emily in 1888- did he know where his brother was and why did Samuel give the same address as his brother in the Electoral Rolls after he was married. This are unanswered questions.

Some years ago I had discussed with one of my distant Crawcour cousins the question of whether or not Emily Barnes who had married Samuel Walter Crawcour was related to Amelia Barnes who had married David Crawcour died 1882 St Helier Jersey. Amelia Barnes was born circa 1801 and died 1870 St Helier Jersey. Emily was born in 1841.

I began research to see if there was any relationship between the two women and the following is part of the ongoing process.
The following data relates to the parents and siblings of Emily Barnes:

    Phillip,

My interest in this post rests with the residence of William Alfred Wilson and his family.
St Breock, Vicarage lane was my father-in laws family home, bought by his father (Dr D H Smith) in 1938. I believe this to be the year of William's death. I am interested to find out about certain artefacts that were sold with the house. I am new to this forum so not sure how you can contact me privately. Hope you may be able to help as its not clear how you are related to this family (guessing you are or you wouldn't be researching them!) DizzyLizzy

Dizzylizzysmiff- I have sent you a private message-see Notifications. Unfortunately, I know nothing about any artefacts and the Samuel Walter Crawcour line is not my own line but part of the ongoing research I have been doing for twenty years into my Crawcour lines world wide.
