Default Who married Winifred STANTON in 1895?

Winifred STANTON married 20 Sept 1895 at St Werbergh's, Chester. According to freebmd, she married either JOHN WELSH or MICHAEL FLYNN.

The problem I have is that PETER CLARKE is her spouse in his WW1 Service Records (WO 363).
He was born between 1865-1871. There is a birth for CLARKE in 1865, but none for WELSH or FLYNN.
So did he serve under his correct name, and marry under a false name? Or vice versa?

There are at least 3 children: JOHN, MARGARET & WINIFRED. (No birth years, but under 14y in 1908).

I have never got the hang of searching censuses by address - please could someone look at 43 Stephen Street, Boughton, CHESTER in 1901 and 3 Castle Street, CHESTER in 1911 and tell me what the family surname was? CLARKE, WELSH or FLYNN?

    Thanks in advance
    Jane
(Yes, the certificate would give me the answer, but this man is not "mine". I'd just like to get the WW1 records correct!)

    Thank You Pamelawagster.
So he married as WALSH ... maybe his descendants will know why he served as CLARKE!

According to Cheshire BMD she married John Welsh.

According to the GRO site the following children were registered in Chester with mmn Stanton

    John Welsh Sep 1897 8a 394
    Margaret Ann Walsh Sep 1899 8a 388 died 1899 aged 2 mths
    Margaret May Walsh Sep 1900 8a 399
    Winifred Walsh Sep 1902 8a 394
    Selina Walsh Mar 1906 8a 380 died 1906 aged 1 mth
    Kathleen Walsh Dec 1907 8a 347 died 1907 age 0

No sign of a birth for a John Welsh/Walsh

There was a Peter Clarke born 1865 Middlewich who joined the Army in 1883 and gave father Michael as next of kin (this fits with the 18771 Census where he is living with father Michael and siblings in Middlewich). He served for 12 years until 30th April 1895. He then re-enlisted 3 May 1895 and served until 1903. I cannot see a next of kin given for this period of service. He does not appear in the 1901 or 1911 Census as far as I can see.
