    Hello Janbooth,
Currently we agree and narrowed it down to the Clarke family of William and Ellen, due to her living in Portsmouth not Portsea. We think there is an Irish connection with the names Rosina and Amelia and Ellen Day is from Ireland. Eliza's brother is James and her and Samuel's son is James. When following William and Ellen, their daughter Elizabeth leaves the family in 1901 which makes us think this is a chance.
Unfortunately her children's name's and descendants haven't used William or Ellen which usually does happen.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Hello Helachau,
Thank you for your comment Eliza's surname in 1851 is Clarke / Clark / Clerk. If there is any chance of you checking the local archives (as we are in Lancashire) for the marriage certificate of
Eliza Amelia Clarke to Samuel Burner Barnes (Qtr 3 - 1881) Swansea. Possibly St. Paul's Church, Sketty, Swansea as their daughter Lily Rosina Barnes was baptised there.

    Many thanks,
    that would be fantastic.

    Hello Marymog,
Thank you for your time searching for us. We think this one could be a bit of a red herring as every census for Eliza Amelia is from Portsmouth not Portsea.

    Kind regards,

Was going to pop into the archives later in the week (walked past yesterday but closed) but now prompted to do so today. A justifiable excuse to escape the decorating/DIY!

If they married in a Parish Church within the West Glamorgan area I may be lucky.

Couldn't find a copy of the marriage certificate.
Took a copy of Lily's baptism in case you don't already have it. She and Edward were baptised together.
    Will send a Private message.

Eliza Amelia is from Portsmouth not Portsea.
I'm afraid that's not a logical statement. Portsea was the registration district that covered Portsmouth.

Have you ordered the marriage certificate?

    Hello Peter,

Before 1900 Portsea & Portsmouth had different registration districts which came under Portsea Island. As shown on all census 1841-1891 that I am researching, that is why I stressed Portsmouth not Portsea.
My next step is that I am going to order a marriage certificate, hoping to get her Father's name and occupation. Certificates I have ordered in the past have had no information on them.

Thank you for all the help you have provided to this forum.

    Kind Regards,

    Greens family.
