    Default What was this address?

I have recently been given a box full of (love) letters from my uncle to his girlfriend - later wife.

The letters are written from the address of Beachville, Brighton Road, Lancing, Nr. Worthing. My uncle seems to be there because he is ill or convalescing from some illness. He refers to having a small bedroom in the eaves of the house with a dormer window and that he can see the sea from the window. He says everything is well organised. He refers to a 'breakfast bell', not too many house rules, a Matron, organised entertainment and swimming in the sea. He says some of 'the other fellows' are going home and he says his own health is improving and he hopes to go home soon.

The letters date from possibly the mid to late 1920s, possibly 1930.

Any ideas what the address was at that time?

A Google of Beachville, Lancing, UK produced a number of results for retirement/sheltered housing. There are some nice photos of the property therein.
However even more useful at National Archives, "Deeds for Beachville, formerly Beach House." https://discovery.nationalarchives.go...0-32007a073edb which states that the actual records are held at West Sussex Record Office. Further details on link.

Thank you both. Lots to follow up above which might shed some light on things and add some detail to a, so far, vague story.

    https://www.escholar.manchester.ac.u...=FULL-TEXT.PDF

search for "beachville" or find page 651, 3rd advert, column 1

In 1939 the newspapers were advertising "Beachville Temperance Holiday Homes, Lancing on Sea.

I just happened to be checking my recent posts for replies.
I think our posts crossed. I noticed your correction as soon as mine posted but ran out of time for another edit.

    Old Maps
    https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/

    Search for "lancing" (Town Name)
Check 1932 map for "Beach House"and 1952 map for "Beachville". You mayneed to use zoom (+ or -) to generate image

But there does appear to be a "Beachville" pre war and before Beach House became Beachville?
