My ancestors were William NIMMO, born 1827 in Polmont, Stirlingshire, and Agnes EMSLIE, also born in 1827, but in Linlithgow.
They were married in Muiravonside on 26 November 1847.
William NIMMO died at a village or settlement called "Loan", situated between Polmont and Linlithgow on 12 July 1903.
My Scots Grandmother's full maiden name was: Agnes Baxter Emslie NIMMO. She descended from William and Agnes.
Can anyone please advise me who were the parents of William NIMMO?
As I live in New Zealand, I am not familiar with the Stirlingshire region.
Thank you
David Little

Hi
If you do a basic. no charge search on Scotlandspeople there is this baptism in the Church register indexes
Baptism at Polmont
William Nimmo age 0
3 December 1928
Parents John Nimmo and Helen Binnie FR717 (FR717)
Parish number 487/
reference 30 44
To find out more you could buy some credits and download the image. This baptism year matches the death reg for year of birth
William's death registration is also on there, registration district Muiravonside. Again you can purchase credits and dpwnload the image.
This page tells you what information you can expect to see on a death certificate.

That's a typo it is meant as 1828.
There is a lot of info on Ancestry regarding these people.A tree and photos of gravestones also census .
If you aren't a member of Ancestry you can access the site at a library.

Have you looked at William's death certificate? It should show his parents.
You can buy a pdf from Scotlands People HERE for a small fee.
There's a article about using SP HERE, and others on Scottish Genealogy in the same place.
David, remember that dates (and spellings) in Scotland at that time could be fuzzy. Birth registration wasn't brought in until 1855, and we generally rely on baptism records unless the Minister recorded the date of birth as well.
