I am looking for information on Lewis/Louis Harding. He was a mariner in the late 1800's in Auckland and is listed in Wises directory.
Trying to find when he married Louisa Rochfort.
Any help is appreciated.
It does also appear that she had 2 children when her surname was Harvey. I dont know where that fits in.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sharon
I have searched on the BMD and the only possible relevant name that comes up is this birth -
1879, Louis Frederick Harding, Mother Louisa with no father named. - is this the correct man?
Can you clarify the name of the two children and why you think the name was Harvey, Harding then Rochfort or whatever order they come in.
I couldn't see a marriage in the index of a Louisa Rochfort and a Louis Harding.

Lewis Harding, Mariner is on the 1881 Wise´s New Zealand Post Office Directory so the man you found MrsPoppy would be too young.
Louis Frederick Harding married a Selina May Bettis and he was a tinsmith, living in the Auckland area also. Could he be a son?
Now there are a couple of records on New South Wales, Australia, Gaol Description and Entrance Books, 1818-1930 but whether this is the same man or a different person with the same name as one of the names used by your bloke?
Lewis Harding

Arrival Country - Australia

In the 1841 census there is a Louis Harding age 1 living with the Collins family in Farnham Surrey. He would be about the right age for the one who jumped ship.

Earnest Charles Harding born 1868 as he was known as, but on looking up records. I could see he may have been born a Harvey. His brother
Ronald Hubert Harding 1872. same. These 2 people were in that family and known as Harding all their lives. I had thought also that Louisa Harvey never married Harding. She went on to marry a man called Harkins.
Thanks

I can't see a birth reg for an Ernest Charles Harding anywhere 1867- 1869 or a Ronald Hubert Harding 1871- 1873. Or using the surname Harvey. Can you point us to the records you have for these men and Louise?
Are they all brothers and sister? Is Louis/Lewis a brother? Where were they all born?
I am just trying to link up all the little pieces of informatio you have given us.
