    Lightbulb Charles T Donaghue

    Hello,
i am currently looking into the criminal history of my grandfather Charles Thomas Donaghue (1926-2004). I know he was put in prison at one stage of his life, but he has been kept away as a family secret and i know very little. Any help or clues are very welcome.
    He was based London/Essex.

Below is a link to the guidance offered by the National Archives to people trying to track down ancestor's criminal records, but you will see it is going to be very difficult without knowing when or where it happened.

Is there no one in the family who is prepared to talk about it?

How about a newspaper search? Local libraries often have access to digital newspaper archives.
