Hi, have been searching for months and months to get some information of two great uncles who died at Dunkirk and who I believe we're part of the British Expeditionary Force. I cannot find any information for them apart from their birth certificates. Their names are on a memorial in Edlesborough but there is no other details unlike all the others on that memorial. Can anyone help????? Have tried all sites with no luck - could they have been involved in something secret. My aunts remember seeing pictures of white crosses at Dunkirk and that one was in raf and one was in army but nothing concrete.

Hi tj2566,
Welcome to British-Genealogy.
What are your uncles names, dates of birth, and where were they born?
Have you searched for them on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site?
Have you thought of searching local papers around the time of their deaths for announcements/news?
Incidentally, Dunkirk happened in 1940.

A British serviceman who died at Dunkirk most likely did so in May-June 1940, during the evacuation – not in 1939. Do you have their exact names
I now see that Pam got in just ahead of me!Last edited by Allan F Sparrow; 22-01-2017 at 4:07 PM. Reason: Addition
