Ok ... so I am trying to trace back a friend's maternal line (about which he knows nothing!): I know his great grandfather is Edward George Rutter (who married Minnie Nunn) and have found that he was born 8 July 1909 and died in Milton Keynes in 1986. And that's it! His marriage was in 1933 (Edmonton) and produced children in Hendon and Edmonton (that was the easy bit!). I have no idea where he was born... (a 1911 census ref would be awesome!) and can find no reference in the GRO or other web sources Help!

To start with, in 1939 Edward and Minnie were living at 3 South View Hornsey.He gives his birth date as 8th July 1910 not 1909.

I couldn't find an Edward George Rutter born 1909/1910 but I have found a George Edward Rutter in the 1911 Census

Looking for a marriage for George William he married an Emma Louisa Unwin Sep 1898 Edmonton vol 3a p 874.

Obviously one of the names, Urwin or Unwin, is possibly a mistranscription.

Do any of his siblings names sound at all familiar to you. If they do then we may have the right chap

Thanks! I think the switch of first names is prob incidental (happened more often than assumed).Given that the marriage and 3 subsequent children with wife Minnie were registered in Edmonton district, I think you have prob found the link!

If it helps his father, down on the 1911 Census as George William, signed the form as William Rutter so it may have been a family trait
