Do you have any records for them? If so do you have more details that you can share?

I can see a George Swan with a Mary Jane in North Sunderland in the 1881 census. But his age, 22, implies a year of birth of more like 1858 so it doesn't sound like your man. Or is it?
Where have you looked? Where have you found him?
Have you tried tracing him back through successive censuses and trying to obtain a birth certificate?

The registration district for North Sunderland at that time was was Belford. It would have been in Bamburgh parish.
Sunderland, by the way, is some 60 miles away from North Sunderland!

Is this George and Mary Jane Swan connected to your other post about a Mary Jane Swan marring John Craig. Are they Mary Jane's parents ?

Here's how to answer the question that you asked.
1. Get the marriage certificate
Marriages Mar 1877
Swan George Belford 10b 447
2. After getting the father's name from the certificate, obtain the birth certificate will will probably be
Births Dec 1858
Swan George Belford 10b 261
3. Supplement this data by tracking the family back in successive census returns.
It would help if you were to answer the questions people have asked in this thread.
