    My grandfather was Montague Seward and we know he came from Devon and probably St Thomas. Amery often occurs as a second name as early as 1770's and as late as 1900

    Peterchester
    Given the same family name in the same vicinity it is possible that our Sewards are connected. Can you place him with any certainty in St Thomas and when was he born?

    my family name in Seward. The emery is a corruption of amore, amory etc. A french lady c Mary Amore/Emery married James Seward c 1815-1820 The family , my grandfather, Montague is descended from James by his son John Amory. James did have a son Richard
