    Default Divorce in England 1931

I am researching my late father who was born in Ceylon in 1901 to Scottish parents. He lived the first 40 years of his life in the UK and also spent time working in Africa.
In 1926 he married in Liverpool.
He moved to New Zealand in 1939 and married my mother in 1940.His New Zealand marriage certificate states he had a decree absolute on 4th May 1931 to his first wife.
How can I trace down the official record of that decree absolute which I assume would have been recorded in England?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
