    Default Eggs or anarchy

The story of Lord Woolton as head of the Ministry of Food during WW2. By Michael Sitwell, publisher Simon & Schuster I bought my copy at Waitrose at a discount as Sitwell is the editor of their food magazine. The book is very readable and full of details of civilian life during the period. Some coverage of the National Registration in 1939 (before Woolton was in office). My interest was piqued as my mother worked for the Miinstry of Food in Liverpool through the war, in the Carrots and Potatoes Division I feel I have gained an insight into her working life, and to life in general at that difficult time. pwholt

    Default Thank you pwholt

A fascinating read. William Sitwell described the World War 2 from a really unique perspective. It explains how Woolton, Minister for Food, fed Britain in the time of war. Thank you for recommending this title.
