Title is pretty much all I have on my father (just found out about him) who I gather did the gentlemanly thing and gave me his name. Marriage did not take and there was a divorce post war. I understand he was attached to a training school in Bangalore. I have no information about whether he was military (RAF?) or civilian.
Before I get stuck in I'm hoping for a heads up from anyone reading who may know of the establishment in Bangalore or indeed if my scanty information is worth pursuing.

Welcome to the British-Genealogy forums RJM
I typed 'raf bases bangalore wwii' in to a search engine and got lots of hits including a forum on WW11 Talk which says
"RAF stations in India included the following at or near Bangalore: Yelahanka, Bangalore and Kolar at or near Madras: Arkonam, Madras, Tambaram, St Thomas Mount, Guindy, Red Hills Lake and Cholavaram"
Has your father died? If so, and you have enough information to apply for his death certificate, you can apply to the MoD for any service record that may exist. You do not need a service number but as well as the death certificate you will have to pay 30 pounds. The bad news is that this money is not refundable if a record for him cannot be found.
This 'sticky' has information and links about service records and where to apply

Arjayem - appreciate this is almost 8 years old and you're likely never going to see this but there's the possibility I know who you're referring to.
My maternal grandfather was one Victor Maughan. A former RAF member and from what I can gather, a man with numerous children. I am unsure as to whether he was based in Bangalore but do know he was stationed in Singapore for a period of time before returning to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) now with my Grandmother and Mother in tow.
Do you know anything else about the Victor Maughan you are looking for asides from RAF Bangalore?

RJM, if there was a divorce, there must have been a wedding. Have you tried to track down the marriage certificate? If he was in the RAF at the time, there should be a registration at the National Archives. It should at least clarify his occupation a bit. Search for the bride - I assume that you know her name and other info.
Afterthought: Back then, divorce was not common. Have you checked local newspapers?
