Hi,
In 1992, as part of the celebrations surrounding the closure of an Irish National School (a primary in UK terms, an elementary in US terms) and a move to a new site in Cromane, Co. Kerry, Ireland, the children put on an exhibition about the history of the school.

They went back to the early school registers, the school being founded in 1886, and found that the occupations of the fathers were recorded beside each child's name. Amongst the farmers, cottiers and labourers, tailors and carpenters were a number of coastguards who manned the Coastguard Station in Cromane Lower. Their children attended the school alongside the local Irish children.

The children in 1992 produced a poster with some of the names of their great, great grandparents' schoolmates.

The list is short, but is only an extract from the Register. Names on the poster were:
William Baker
Thomas Bond
Charles Cleverly
Ruth Cotcher
Bessie B. Cross
George Harris
Jane Harris
Percy Holman
Emily Lee
Alfred Lewis
Noemi Adda Lewis (who may be Naomi Addi Lewis - the photo was a bit blurred at this point)
William Plum
Margaret Powell
Agatha Sealy

The Register may by now (2016) have been digitised, but if not, it is probably in the custody of Kerry County Library, which has a web presence.

Also, the Irish censuses of 1901 and 1911 also show the Coastguards and their families who were manning the Station in April 1901 and 1911. These are available at www.census.nationalarchives.ie

I hope that this helps break down a brick wall or two.
