    Hi Christina
John's father's name is also John on the certificate. I liked (!) that they wrote Byrnes first (which was my mother's surname) then crossed ot out and wrote Burns.

So there is a choice. The marriage record/certificate for John and Anne is needed. Although there is a public tree on ancestry which has the death of John Byrne son of John and Theresa registered Wellington New Zealand 7 Jun 1907. So that would appear to rule him out but this should be checked out.
Theresa, John and family are on the Scotland 1881/1891 censuses.

I see in the 1881 census, there is no Young John,, he would have been 10 then, in the 1891 John is 9. So most probably not my Family.
Edit: Sorry just saw the Family in Dalziel County:Lanarkshire in 1881. This could be them Can't find them in 1891 though
