Rye Overseers rates 1834-1835 PAR-456/30/22

“an assessment made the 19th day of June 1834 on every occupier of Lands, houses, and other estates mentioned in the statute of Queen Elizabeth within the town & liberty of Rye in the County of Sussex by Jeremiah Smith, Henry Brazier churchwardens & John Spencer Kennet, Charles French, James Selmes, George Skinner overseers of Rye aforesaid for the relief of the poor as followsbeing the second rate at three shillings in the pound”

followed by a list of occupiers listed alphabetically by surname, with their buildings, rents and taxes.

I found my ancestor listed and relatives of another ancestor!

A very useful source if you have family in Rye, which maybe duplicated in the Rye registers, though I havent checked yet.
