I have a death certificate for the above dated 1904 and would like to find out where the records are kept can anyone help I know this person was living with relatives in 1901 would this be the only place someone needing hospital care could go. What if any alternatives were there. The family were her neice she had no children and was a widow.

The short answer is that there probably wasn't an alternative, unless the family had wealth.

Peter Higginbottom's site has information that might assist:

    It was Edmonton Union.

For infirmary records, see the Hospital Records Database

Unfortunately it looks as if few records have survived. Perhaps there's something among the workhouse records at LMA.

Thank you Megan I suspect it would have been down to finances although when this lady died she left around £350 according to her admin letters which were granted to my gt grandfather and his brother in law who were only related in law.
