Hi all
Does anyone have any information on the Beddow family living in Yockleton in early 1800's. My Ancestor was the son of a John and Elizabeth Beddow. John was a shoemaker. Would like to know when John & Elizabeth married as I can't seem to find them in researches so far.
Many thanks Keith

Welcome to the Brit-Gen forums Keith
Just so we can pinpoint the correct family with more confidence. When was John son of John and Elizabeth born? Do you have any of the family in the early census? Do you know of any siblings for John jnr?

If I'm looking at the right family Richard and Elizabeth had these children baptised - William 1808; Martha 1815; Richard 1823.
Allowing for the 1841 census rounding ages down by up to 5yrs this family seems to fit.
Living Westbury, a couple of miles from Yockleton.
William Beddow 30
Jane Beddow 40
Elizabeth Beddow 50
Martha Beddow 25
Richard Beddow 15
Henry Beddow 20
Mary Beddow 9
Elizabeth Beddow 7
Jane Beddow 4
Same people 1851 in Yackleton, Westbury
Elizabeth Beddow 67, widow, Pontesbury
Jane Beddow 48, dau in law, widow, Montgomeryshire
Elizabeth Beddow 16, g. dau, Westbury
Jane Beddow 13, g.dau, Westbury
John Evans 8, g.son, Westbury
The only marriage I see to fit
18 May 1807, Shrewsbury, St Chad's, John Beddows and Elizabeth Jones
A few Elizabeth Jones baptised Pontesbury 1780 to 1790Alma

Other baptisms at Westury parents John and Elizabeth, Thomas 1820; John 1817; Robert 1827
And possibly Mary baptised in Pontesbury 1811. Not uncommon for the first dau to be baptised at her Mother's family church.Alma

If you look at melocki.org.uk you will find transcriptions of registers for Shropshire parishes - I have Yockleton ancestors & found many of them in Albebury, Pontesbury and Westbury transcripts. It really is a useful site.
Good luck!
