Hello
I've spent months trying to find information about my Father's time in WWII including paying £30 fee to Disclosure Cell at Whale Island for an extract of his service record from Oct 1940 to August 1942. He doesn't appear in the Navy List and no other record of his service after August 1942, apart from his discharge in 1946, existed. Finally, I contacted the address shown below.
They sent me his P&V (Payment & Victual) Records from October 1940-April 1946. He was an OS in 1940, Sub Lt 1941 and Temp Lt RNVR with Combined Operations 1942-46. I wrote to them enclosing a copy of his death certificate and my birth certificate. They didn't charge me a fee and replied with the information I had requested within 3 weeks.

Hello Christopher
Thank you for posting this very helpful information and it is now a 'sticky' permanently at the top of the Military - Royal Navy & Royal Marines forum.
