When a Parish Minister/Clerk listed someone as "of this parish", it meant that they were living and working there, and registered as a member of the congregation. Not that they were born there.
Did you notice the Arthur Wilson, son to John & Margaret Wilson, born or bap (I'm using the SP free search bit) 7 Dec 1818 in Glasgow? Arthur isn't the most common of names in Scotland, and age is usually a bit out with the 1841. Might be worth a look. He was the only hit for Lanarkshire.
Sadly, there's 5 hits on Ann in a similar search...

    Hi Lesley,
Yes I did see that Arthur but I found him and his widowed mother in Glasgow in 1841 whilst mine was in Cathcart at that time.
In later English census my Arthur consistently gave his age as corresponding to a birth in 1812/3.

Regarding Ann Weir, it is a common name in Scotland and with such sparse details an impossible task. It doesn't help that the family left Scotland before Statutory Registration began in 1855.

    Thanks for looking,
    Malcolm.

    Rats!
It was worth looking because the new owners of SP have improved the search engine and added extra records (eg the other denominations).
The problem with the 1841 census is that many census takers got confused as to whether they should round ages up or down to the nearest "unit of 5". Some played safe and gave actual ages. I therefore always assume, with this census, that anyone +/- 5 years is possible.

    Back to the drawing board.

    Default UPDATE: Anne WEIR

I've been contacted by a 3xcousin once removed (3C-1) who discovered my on-line tree whilst investigating her Ggdad who married my GGgaunt, who in 1901 Upholland census was living with her aunt. On investigating discovered she had been married twice, second marriage gave her father as John WEIR and her previous surname as Douglas.
The niece's mother was Ann WEIR.

    Elizabeth WEIR b c1825 Scotland, father John WEIR; m(1) bfr 1850 ? DOUGLAS; m(2) 1859 Joshua Mather (d 1882); d 1901
