Would anyone like to hazard a guess at the name of the father from this baptism in 1717?
Thanks

It says:
"Catherine the daughter of Mr Kawlsy James was baptised August 5th.".

*anley James. The * looks like K, so it probably isn't!
Is there anything comparable in the rest of the document?

I am inclined to think that it is something *anley, on the basis that the "n" looks like the "n" in Catherine.

I am now wondering if it might be Lanley, though Rawley also looks possible, because of the kink in the link between the "n" and the l.

The 'e' at the end of Catherine, in James and the second last letter of the surname look the same to me. Rawley?

I think that I shall just have to leave a few spaces with alternatives.

I have just got to the top of the page in 1723 and found the following:
If you look across to the right hand side you can see "Roger", so the first letter of the chap's name is definitely "R".
So that's one lot of ** deleted!!
