Default Ezard & Sykes, Manchester, 1870s

In the 1870s, Charles EZARD was in partnership with Isaac SYKES and traded as Ezard & Sykes. They were iron founders, based at Wellington Iron Works, Bradford, near Manchester. He applied to register the design of numerous small household items, e.g. trivet, ashpan etc. These can be found at The National Archives in series BT/ 43, 44, 45. Many of the items might have been registered 'just in case' but never manufactured. I do not know.

A third man, Richard Rowbotham, had originally been in the partnership too, but he left the business in July 1871 - see London Gazette, July 25 1871, p3323.

I have been searching, fruitlessly, for more info about this Charles, Ezard & Sykes, and the Wellington Iron Works. Whichever way I approach it, nothing is showing up. Can anyone help, please?

Have you tried Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry?

    https://www.mosi.org.uk/

    Manchester Council

    https://www.manchester.gov.uk/familyhistory

They have various directories and maps which might help.

This is another site that might be useful:

I have information on Charles Ezard. You can email me at (Removed at Account holder's request - Admin PB) if you can. He moved to the USA and settled in Mobile Alabama. He founded Mobile Pulley Works.

    Hi mb3700
The original poster on this thread is no longer a member of the Brit-Gen forums and we have no way to contact her.
As she was doing a one name study you could ask them if they have a contact number for her although they do say the study is no longer registered with the guild.

The information you have posted here may be the link some other researcher will find in the future.
