James William Jones, pianoforte maker, father Griffith [silversmith]
    Maria Tilley, father Thomas [baker]
Witnesses: Thomas Tilley and Charlotte May Tilley

I think Maria's address is Stephen St, and James' address Mary Street

    Hello almach
this is looking good. I like the name Griffith for James William's father

Opinions please as to whether this is looking to be the correct scenario. Of course we will know more when heide1 receives Griffiths James Jones marriage cert to Charlotte who in one US census is down as Lottie.
It makes me wonder where others got the name Thomas Theodore Jones for Griffith James' father. Also a birthplace of Liverpool for Griffith's parents.

It is confusing Christina isn't it? Try as I may I cannot find a link to Liverpool and Thomas Theodore Jones. When Heidi get's the marriage certificate we should know whether we are on the right track, I'm inclined to think we are.

In 1870 US census Griffith is entered as JAMES Jones.

I'm wondering if James Griffith's father died, his mother remarried, and he entered the US with his stepfather's surname. I don't have time now to pursue that possibility.

Hi, Nicolina. The only one that i can factually find on a U.S. census, is Griffith James Jones. I have yet to find his brother, even tho i know that he lived in Valentine Nebraska, and Griffith followed him there, with his wife Charlotte and children. I have to work this weekend, but will try and check out Find My Past, thank you for letting me know about that And thank you all for your help, I very much appreciate it. I have been working on this branch of my tree for years now, and even with the information that i have, i havent been able to get very far. You all have a great weekend.
