    Default Ryde Social Heritage Group

The Ryde Social Heritage Group has a very useful graves database - search by surname: https://rshg.org.uk/index.asp.

Admittedly it covers just a small area of the Isle of Wight, but if you find a grave there you will also get info about the graveyard, a map, the plot number etc; plus, a photograph of the grave itself, a transcription of the wording, and info about the state in which it was when the photograph was taken.

The RSHGroup was set up to 'preserve, document, and promote the social history of Ryde'. It has some interesting photo galleries and also a presence on Flickr.

And I discovered it all by chance yesterday! And there I found the grave of my late father-in-law's first wife, who died young, and so have now been able to fill in some details.
