Hi everyone,
I am trying to find newspapers from Newcastle Upon Tyne for 1926.
They are not available on FMP. I had a Great Uncle who drowned in Leazes Lake Newcastle on 25.7.1926 and want to find out more about how it happened. His name was Robert (Bobby) Dryden and he was born in 1909 in Newcastle.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you
Neil

Hello Neil,
Unless you want to wait several years in the hope that Newcastle papers for 1926 will eventually be scanned into the British Newspaper Archive, your best bet is to contact Newcastle Library.
Tell them what you want, and ask how much it would cost. They may say £30 (standard cost for on hours' research) but they also have a list of independent researchers who may be cheaper. https://www.

If you tell them that you live in Australia so are unable to visit in person (and also because you do have a date of death), they might do it for free. But don't hold your breath!
